July 1, 2008, San Francisco, CA – Pyramind, Inc., the leading independently-owned and operated audio production and training facility on the westcoast, is pleased to announce that it has tapped Paul Lipson as Vice President of Business Development. Mr. Lipson formerly served as the Chief Academic Officer at Ex'pression College for Digital Arts, and continues in his role as President of the Game Audio Network Guild (G.A.N.G). G.A.N.G is a worldwide association of music composers and sound designers that empowers the game audio community by providing resources, education, and recognition for its members.
“Mr. Lipson's diverse, yet convergent, background in education and production is the perfect match for Pyramind,” says Executive Director Gregory J. Gordon. Teamed with veteran composer and now Director of Audio Production Services, David Earl, Pyramind is building an inimitable team of audio production veterans with a specific goal towards becoming San Francisco's premier interactive sound and music development and training facility.
Located in the heart of San Francisco's creative development community, Pyramind, Inc., established in 1987, has grown to become the country's leading-edge production and training facility, offering interactive sound development services and music and media production for the biggest names in screen and interactive entertainment. Pyramind's integrated approach to training and production provides education and expertise in today's working studio environment. Pyramind works with clients and students alike to realize their professional and creative goals by providing production services and a proven curriculum that reflects evolving industry needs.
Since moving into its 880 Folsom Street facilities in April of 2003, Pyramind has developed three full-time certificate-training programs in advanced digital audio and music production, including pioneering Digidesign's Pro Tools operator and expert manufacture certifications and becoming an Apple Authorized Training Center for Logic, Final Cut and DVD Studio Pro. Also since 2003, Pyramind has grown from an employee base of three to a full time staff of eight and as many as twenty part time instructors, engineers and producers.
Mr. Lipson, a conservatory trained musician and composer, originally founded Hit Point Music (HPM) in Boston - a development company specializing in music for games, film, and television – a venture designed to converge his love of music and interactive entertainment. His team at HPM worked with a dazzling array of “A-list” clients, including projects for America Online, Hasbro Interactive, Harmonix/Sonic Implants, Associated Production Music, Hyundai Automotive, The Environmental Protection Agency, Urbane-Dog Creative, and Killer Tracks, just to name a few. Mr. Lipson is also the recipient of the G.A.N.G. “2006 Distinguished Service Award,” for his work in education and advocacy for the interactive audio arts.
David Earl is the consummate Logic Audio power user (Apple's flagship music and audio production application) and combines his skills as a composer, producer, and instructor to match the Pyramind model. From Pokemon to Fairly Odd Parents, David enjoys the challenges of jumping from one musical style to the next. His attention to detail and ability to deliver assets on time and on budget, no matter the scope of the project, has served him and his clients, like Backbone Entertainment, Sony Computer Entertainment America, Activision, Leapfrog, and Imaginengine, very well.
Lead by Executive Director Gregory J. Gordon and Director of Education Matt Donner, Pyramind has built their success on a fully integrated model that takes “the school” out of education and imbeds advanced and creative training curriculums directly into the working studio environment. By doing this, students get a real world view of the industry they so desperately want to be a part of and have a fast track to realizing their goals and ambitions. Conversely, Pyramind is a breeding ground for talent from which it can recruit and create opportunities. By integrating its production and education, Pyramind has created a synergistic business model that allows it to best serve the needs of both students and professional clients.
Pyramind's facilities now include two facilities at 880 and 832 Folsom Street, which include six recording studios, two significant multimedia training labs, as well as conference and event space. Pyramind's event facilities have been used by Apple during the 2008 Worldwide Developers Conference, the City of San Francisco's Entertainment Commission for their monthly San Francisco Entertainment Academy and the quarterly electronic music review panel, Test Press, which is sponsored by the San Francisco Chapter of the Recording Academy (NARAS), INgrooves and Ableton. Less than two blocks from the Moscone Convention Center, Pyramind's technologically advanced facilities are available for training, presentations, meetings, conventions, and conferences for audiences up to 150-people.For more info, please visit www.pyramind.com or contact Bryan Dale, info above.
