Point Break LIVE!, Los Angeles Hit Comedy Stage Production Rides Wave of Corporate Gigs

“Corporations and trade show after-parties love the interactive aspect of ‘Point Break LIVE!’ The audience doesn't just watch ‘Point Break LIVE!’; they are in it; from armed bank robbery, big-wave surfing, car chases, explosions, and no less than two extended skydiving sequences and an indoor monsoon,” Eve Hars, Producer.

November 13, 2012 – Los Angeles, CA – ‘Point Break LIVE!’, LA’s longest-running, internationally-lauded, full-immersion, smash hit comedy theater production, is performing to rapt and ravenous standing room-only audiences as it rides a new wave of success as a leading corporate event and private affair production in the southland.

The absurdist stage adaptation of the 1992 Keanu Reeves/Patrick Swayze extreme-sports blockbuster, ‘Point Break,’ is best described by Australia's PopMag.com, as “a cross between reality TV, a play, and all-time classic film ‘Point Break.' Every show features a new unrehearsed actor (selected from the audience), playing ‘Johnny Utah’ with the lines read off cue-cards so as to capture Keanu Reeves raw acting talent.” The audience doesn't just watch ‘Point Break LIVE!’; they are in it to the point HustlerofCulture.com proclaims ‘Point Break LIVE!’ is the ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ for our generation.” The LA Weekly proclaimed ‘Point Break LIVE!’ is "So hideously over the top, you can't stop laughing."

Best suited for audiences of up to 250 people, producer Eve Hars states, “Corporations and trade show after-parties love the interactive aspect of ‘Point Break LIVE!’ The audience doesn't just watch ‘Point Break LIVE!’; they are in it; from armed bank robbery, big-wave surfing, car chases, explosions, and no less than two extended skydiving sequences and an indoor monsoon.”

The corporations that have retained ‘Point Break LIVE!’ have been lifestyle, clothing, extremes sports, entertainment and technology companies, including, but not limited to, Nike, Hurley, Vans, and the X-Games. Currently, the production is serving corporate clients throughout Southern California, but the 14-member production is more than happy to perform at any corporate function anywhere in the country. Hars sees the corporate gigs continuing and, hopefully, in a perfect world, partnering with a complementary corporate sponsor to open a branded ‘Point Break LIVE!’ theater in 2013.

‘Point Break LIVE!’, which made its home at Hollywood’s storied Dragonfly Club for four of its five year LA run, could be closing by the end of 2012 as it must move out due to the increased scheduling conflicts in the new year. While Hars is still looking for a new suitable space for ‘Point Break LIVE!’ to continue its successful run of weekend sold out performances, the demand continues to grow from leading corporations that want to stage ‘Point Break LIVE!’ as part of annual regional and national sales and team building conferences.

With only four more public performances scheduled in 2012, Hars is welcoming event planners interesting in retaining or representing the production to experience ‘Point Break LIVE!’ A special ‘event planner-only’ performance of ‘Point Break LIVE!’ will also be scheduled in January 2013. Those interested in attending may contact Eve Hars directly at New Rock Theater Productions email: newrocktheater@gmail.com or call at 617-785-5982.
